This guidebook covers the full 220km (137‑mile) Coast to Coast (C2C) cycle route, taking riders from Whitehaven or Workington on the west coast to Tynemouth or Sunderland in the east. One of Britain’s most popular long‑distance rides, the C2C crosses the Lake District, the Pennines and County Durham, making it an inspiring challenge for both first‑time and experienced cycle tourers. Most riders complete the route in around three days.
Presented as a 3‑day itinerary with daily stages of 64–84km (40–52 miles), the guide also includes alternative itineraries for riders wanting shorter or longer days. The route passes through Keswick, Greystoke, Penrith, Renwick, Garrigill, Nenthead, Allenheads, Alston and Newcastle, with the main description running west to east and a summary provided for those riding in reverse.
Each stage features clear 1:100,000 maps, downloadable GPX files and easy‑to‑follow directions. A detailed trek planner offers essential information on accommodation, refreshments, bike shops and rider facilities along the way, helping cyclists prepare confidently for every section.
Whether you’re tackling the full C2C or riding a shorter stretch, this guidebook provides everything you need to plan, navigate and enjoy one of the UK’s classic long‑distance cycling adventures.
